Composed of fragrance, lifestyle, and collectible design, the Cairo-based brand draws from Ancient Egyptian mythology and culture, crafted for the modern home. Each piece is rooted in history yet shaped for the present, balancing heritage with contemporary living.
Analogue was born out of Alchemy, a leading design firm in the region working at the intersection between history and design. The brand emerges from this approach, drawing inspiration from historical forms and reimagining them through contemporary design. By weaving cultural tradition with a contemporary sensibility, Analogue creates pieces that dissolve time, where past and present connect in harmony and continuity. Rooted in the spirit of Ancient Egypt, our collections bring a historic essence into today’s homes with refined forms.

The brand's logo reflects a philosophy and way of being by impeccably fusing two elements: the fig and the number three. Inspired by the importance it had in Ancient Egyptian culture, the fig symbolised the offering by the Gods and was considered a royal fruit that was also believed to fight physical symptoms of illness.
The fruit protects its fleshy flower-like interior in a skin that keeps its beauty secret like treasure yearning to be discovered. The mirroring of the number three forms a circle which reflects divine infinity, and in astrological terms the number three alone invokes the expression of pure joy and a promise of new adventures. In a similar manner, Analogue is the embodiment of these two elements, inviting us to view our culture from a fresh perspective while turning the ordinary into extraordinary.

The founder
Karim Mekhtigian
Karim Mekhtigian is the founder of Analogue and Alchemy, one of the region’s leading contemporary design firms. Born and raised in Cairo and Armenian in origin, Karim’s practice is shaped by an interest in the relationship between history, culture, and the everyday. After studying interior design and scenography in Paris, he founded Dessilk in 1993, creating handmade objects and tableware for the home. Returning to Cairo in 1997, he established Alchemy, where he continues to work across architecture, interiors, and product design.
Karim’s work has consistently looked to the cultural and material histories of Egypt as a source for new ideas across product and interior design. Across his practice, traditional forms, materials, and techniques are reinterpreted through a contemporary lens, creating objects and spaces that feel connected to where they come from while belonging to the present.
In Analogue, he extends this approach into the objects of everyday life. The brand aims to bring the character of Egypt’s material culture into contemporary homes through fragrance, lifestyle, and collectible objects. At its heart is a belief that good design does not separate the past from the present, but allows both to exist in conversation.

The Taweret Hippo
Taweret is the ancient Egyptian goddess of fertility, drawn as a hippopotamus with the features of other living forms. The studio’s Taweret Hippo is a modern reading of her: strength, resilience, and regenerative power in minimal form, cut from basalt and handcrafted in Cairo. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the Taweret Hippo is dedicated to Banati Foundation, an organization working towards a future in which every girl can flourish.
